Reason
It is an always-online free-to-play live-service game. You cannot launch the game or pass the title screen without an active internet connection to HoYoverse servers.
- Always-Online Architecture: Even though the majority of your questing and exploration can be done as a solo player, all player account data, inventory management, world states, and trophy tracking are managed entirely server-side.
- Platinum Availability (PS5 Only): Note that the PS4 version does not have a Platinum trophy at all, only a list of Bronze, Silver, and Gold trophies. The PS5 version does include a full Platinum trophy, The Path of Discovery, but every single trophy requires being logged into live online servers to unlock.
- No Paid Subscription Required: While you must be connected to the internet, you do not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to play the game or earn any of its trophies.
