While it is primarily a fighting game with extensive single-player content, a significant portion of its trophy list is tied directly to online matchmaking, online AI modes, and live server-side progression systems.
- Mandatory Online Multiplayer Trophies: Several trophies require playing against real players over PlayStation Network.
- Kompetitor: Play 50 Kasual Versus matches online.
- R-E-S-P-E-C-T: Give 100 respect points in online King of the Hill matches.
- Teamwork: Complete a Group Battle with two other online players.
- My AI Can Do It / Puppet Master: Send your AI team to fight other players’ AI teams online 25 times.
- Server-Locked Single-Player Modes: Major single-player modes like The Krypt and Towers of Time require an active connection to NetherRealm servers. You cannot open chests or track progress toward trophies like Grave Robber, open 200 Krypt chests, or Master of Time, complete 250 Towers, while offline.
- PlayStation Plus Required: A live internet connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription are required to access online matches and sync server data for the unlockable progression trophies.
