Reason

While almost the entire game can be completed solo, the base trophy list contains one mandatory multiplayer trophy that requires an online connection and an active PlayStation Plus subscription:

• “Human Lover” (Bronze): Requires you to win 20 events in multiplayer. You must play in online matchmaking or custom online lobbies against real human opponents for these wins to count; AI opponents in local offline races do not qualify.

What Can Be Done Offline

Aside from that single online requirement, the remaining 19 base-game trophies can be earned completely offline:

• Career Championship: Clear all five career divisions, from Regional Juniors to World Masters (“World Masters Champion”).
• Level 50 Grind: Reach Player Rank 50 (“Showing Some Dedication”). This can be farmed quickly offline in Custom Events (e.g., set up a Deathmatch against sofa cars or lawnmowers).
• Vehicle & Destruction Feats: Wrecking 100 opponents (“Hating Them Tin Cans”), driving a lawnmower for 1 hour (“Garden Variety”), and accumulating 20 vehicles (“Junk Collector”) can all be done locally.

(Note: If you jump online briefly to boost the 20 multiplayer wins with a friend or in a server, you can then disconnect and finish 100% of the remaining Platinum grind completely offline).
